We had a lovely day on Thursday marking VE Day 80. Well done on the costumes. Some very authentic evacuees were in our classroom yesterday. Rev Reid laid an assembly where he told us about young men from the locality who fought in WW2 preserving all the freedoms we enjoyed. Then we had a tuck shop 40s style when the children were able to exchange ration coupons for sweets. We tried to recreate VE 80 for photographs and then we had a picnic lunch outside accompanied by 40s style music. Our art competition winners were also given prizes. Finally P7 and some P6s recorded a musical tribute by singing I will remember. Hopefully memories were made and our children will have gratitude who gave so much for us.
